Ubisoft looks for multiplayer possibilities for Assassin’s Creed

Ubisoft says he is looking for ways to apply multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed games. This is what creative director of Ubisoft, Serge Hascoet, announced in an interview.
In the interview with Game Informer, Hascoet is looking for opportunities to return the multiplayer function to Assassin’s Creed games. “We have many types of technologies, so it’s different in every situation, but Assassin’s Creed does not have a multiplayer, which is very important for the social aspect of gaming, so that’s what we’re looking for now.”

Assassin’s Creed games have not had a multiplayer mode in recent years. Previously there was a multiplayer mode in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Revelations and Black Flag where players had to disguise themselves as NPC not to be killed by other players. At the same time, the disguised players had to kill other players inconspicuously, without being discovered themselves. After only a co-operative multiplayer mode in 2014 with Assassin’s Creed Unity, the franchise is offering exclusive single-player content.

Hascoet did not yet say in what form a new multiplayer mode is being sought. He clearly did not want to copy other franchises. “At the moment everyone is talking about battle royale, but there are still fifteen other companies that work with that, just like on the mobile, only two will succeed. team to determine what the next step is, it’s important to understand why games like Fortnite are so successful, but it’s not our goal to start copying that, we’re doing it right so that we can do something else but with the same approach, so we have plenty of ideas, we’re going to test a lot of ideas internally and maybe one of them will be put on the market. ”

In any case, Ubisoft did not let a new Assassin’s Creed game be released after the release of Odyssey. This will break the annual cycle of Assassin’s Creed releases and no new title of the franchise will appear in 2019.
